My mother came from the former Polish lands in Byelorussia, and my father from Kutno, Poland. My father was killed in an accident when I was 12 years old. My mother reared us by herself, me and my siblings: my sister, who was two years older than I, and my brother, seven years younger. After finishing elementary school, I attended trade school in order to start earning money quickly and thus lighten my mother's load.
